The UMCNO House Officer Quality Improvement Council (HQUIC) was established in March of 2017 to meaningfully engage house staff at into activities that promote a culture of patient safety.

We do this by:

  • Optimizing the delivery of care
  • Inter-professional, team-based communications
  • Cost accountability
  • Provider wellbeing
  • Population health outcomes

Regular activities

HQUIC has a monthly offering at UMC open to health care providers from all disciplines and all professions. Monthly offerings are supported by The Spirit of Charity Foundation.

These activities include:

  • Committee Meetings
  • Safety, Health Disparity, and Improving Patient Outcomes [SHIP] Case Conferences
  • Project Huddles
  • Journal Club

    UMC New Orleans is an Advanced Primary Stroke Center with a full stroke team on call 24/7 to immediately care for patients with stroke symptoms.
