The 2018 edition of SONIC Drive-In’s Tot calendar is now available at all Louisiana SONIC locations. The Tot calendars are available for $5 each, and all proceeds benefit the Louisiana Passenger Safety Task Force, an organization that buys and installs free child safety seats for needy families throughout the state.

The Tot calendar is on sale today through February 18, 2018. In addition to free car seat safety tips, the calendar offers more than $45 worth of coupons redeemable towards SONIC Drive-In purchases.

SONIC has partnered with University Medical Center New Orleans and the Louisiana Passenger Safety Task Force for this project. All proceeds from calendar sales are being directed to the Louisiana Passenger Safety Task Force to purchase and distribute child safety seats based on family needs in the region. “When used correctly, child restraints are the number one factor in reducing serious injuries and death in motor vehicle crashes,” said Bridget Gardner, RN, Community Injury Prevention Program Coordinator at University Medical Center New Orleans. “This partnership provides an avenue to reach the unrestrained population to prevent the injuries that we far too often witness as a Level 1 Trauma Center.”

Over the past two years, employees of Louisiana’s 147 SONIC locations have raised a total of $103 thousand in calendar sales, which paid for a total of 1,848 car seats. SONIC also supports Seat Check Saturday, an annual statewide event hosted by the Louisiana Passenger Safety Task Force that provides free car seat inspections for all families.

“In just two years, the Tot calendar has paid for nearly 2,000 child safety seats,” said Ted Kergan, owner of Kergan Bros. Sonic Group, the state’s largest SONIC franchisee. “The program has made a real difference in protecting kids from car injuries and preventing one of the leading causes of childhood deaths.”
