Dr. Robin McGoey Selected as New Chief Academic Officer at University Medical Center

University Medical Center New Orleans is pleased to announce Robin McGoey, MS, MD has been named its Chief Academic Officer. The Chief Academic Officer at University Medical Center oversees the Office of Academic Affairs and pursues the University Medical Center’s mission of creating a world-class academic experience through advanced research, leading technology, and innovation.

McGoey served as the hospital’s Associate Academic Officer for a year and a half, acting as the liaison between the academic medical center and Louisiana State University School of Medicine while practicing medicine.

Her extensive experience with graduate medical education and instrumental role in the hospital’s quality, wellness, and patient initiatives made her uniquely qualified for this role according to University Medical Center President and CEO Bill Masterton.

“In just a little over a year, Dr. McGoey has strengthened our academic goals and begun to transform the culture and conversation of workplace wellness for our entire facility,” Masterton said. “We’re excited to see what she will accomplish with our partners, LSU and Tulane Schools of Medicine, and how she will elevate our reputation as the region’s academic medical center.”

In addition to her administrative and clinical roles at University Medical Center, McGoey is an associate professor in the Department of Pathology at LSU School of Medicine. She is also an associate faculty member at LSU’s School of Graduate Studies.

McGoey currently serves on the Administration Board for the American Association of Medical Colleges Council of Faculty and Academic Societies and is a candidate for the Louisiana Hospital Association Physician Leadership Fellowship.

She earned her medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine, where she also interned in Pediatrics and completed a residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. McGoey is a board-certified pathologist.
