Course Description

A day-long conference to address the latest guidelines and advancements in patient-centered, interdisciplinary stroke care and treatment. This activity has been submitted for approval to award contact hours. Wear your favorite New Orleans Saints attire!​

Course objectives

At the conclusion of the course, the participant will be able to: 

  • Describe the components of stroke care and assessment during the pre-hospital phase of care and triaging stroke patients to the proper facilities. 
  • Describe the location of brain functions and corresponding blood flow as it relates to the interpreting the National Institute of Health Stroke Scale.
  • Understands the scope and goal of a Neurocritical Care Unit (NCC) and type of neurological patients that require NCC monitoring and care. 
  • Describe the differences between palliative care, hospice care, and end-of life care.
  • Recognize incidence of stroke in the young.
  • Distinguish the difference in dysphagia, apraxia, and the types of aphasia and related care​.
