Emergency Preparedness

University Medical Center New Orleans has plans in place to ensure the safety of our patients and staff. In preparing our plan we have worked closely with state and local governments, the Louisiana Hospital Association, our medical staff and employees.

When a tropical storm or hurricane threatens New Orleans, University Medical Center will activate its emergency plan to provide patients and their family members, staff, and physicians with up-to-date information regarding our preparations, announcements about closing and reopening the facilities, and other relevant instructions.

Severe Weather Alert – Hurricane Sally Update Tuesday, September, 15 2020, 11:30 am

University Medical Center is closely monitoring the impact of Hurricane Sally as it approaches our region. The storm's path has shifted slightly eastward Monday morning, and is now forecast to make a first landfall early Tuesday morning near the Mouth of the Mississippi River.

The New Orleans Metro area is currently under a Hurricane Warning and a Flash Flood Watch. Prepare your home now as we expect to feel the effects beginning tomorrow.
