Margaret J. Bishop-Baier, MD

About Dr. Bishop-Baier

I was born and raised in New Orleans and completed much of my education locally with some time of my training in California. My areas of research and interest in patient care are focused on treating persons with schizophrenia, bipolar mood disorders, anxiety disorders and complex trauma. While I treat adults as individuals I have found that involving my patients' family members or other identified supports as partners in treatment is most effective. Many of my patients also benefit from individual or group psychotherapy.

After over 20 years of inpatient / hospital psychiatry work I am now involved in establishing an intensive outpatient program as part of University Medical Center's Behavioral Health Outpatient Clinic. As a teaching faculty at LSU School of Medicine I supervise residents and medical students.

My Little Something Extra:
I enjoy travel and spent a year working as a psychiatrist in New Zealand .
