Clinical Nursing Education

Giving our New Orleans hospital staff the tools they need

UMC’s Clinical Education Department supports the hospital's commitment to exceptional patient care by promoting educational opportunities, training, and professional development. We provide these programs to the UMC nursing staff, as well as to nursing professionals in the surrounding communities in a cost-effective, flexible and productive manner.

Our role is to:

  • Continually assess the educational needs of nursing staff throughout the organization and the community
  • Plan, design, implement, promote, and evaluate all educational activities for nursing staff using principles of evidence-based practice and latest technology based on need
  • Participate, in collaboration with the Human Resources Department, in nurse-specific orientation education programs
  • Collaborate with quality improvement, risk management, and all departments to respond to the needs for nurse-related educational activities
  • Identify the placement needs of nurse training programs and facilitate the placement of groups within the organization
