Trauma Recovery Clinic

The Trauma Recovery Clinic (TRC) at University Medical Center New Orleans provides behavioral health services to trauma patients and their families. Our mission is to support our patients’ psychological and physical recovery needs through an evidence-based and multidisciplinary treatment approach.

We aim to provide the highest level of care for our patients, including short- and long-term psychotherapy for individuals and families and medication management.

  • What is a Traumatic Injury?

    Traumatic injuries may be due to blunt or penetrating forces. Blunt injuries occur when an outside force strikes the body. These injuries occur as a result of a motor vehicle crash, a fall or an assault. Penetrating trauma occurs when an object, such as a bullet or knife, pierces the body. Sometimes, patients have both types of injuries.

  • Do I qualify for TRC services?

    Services are available to any patient (ages 13 and up) treated through UMC, ILH or Charity hospitals for a physical trauma. Services are also available to family members and loved ones, whether or not they received medical care through UMC.
